Everton boss Marco Silva relieved some of the pressure on him at the weekend, as his side beat West Ham United.

Everton boss Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo that Theo Walcott and Tom Davies really impressed him on Saturday.

Everton picked up a 2-0 win over West Ham United, and they thoroughly dominated the match.

Both Walcott and Davies were handed starts during the contest, which has not always been the case this season, and they caught the eye.

Walcott was a constant threat going forward, and was so unlucky not to score when he unleashed a shot from long-range.

Davies, meanwhile, added energy and combativeness to Everton’s midfield alongside Andre Gomes.

And Silva name-checked the pair after the match, as he felt they both put in standout performances.

“I like Theo as a lad. I like Tom as a lad,” Silva said.

“Tom is something special for me because he loves the club, he is a lad from our club and he is special, it doesn’t matter if he’s played ten or thirty games for me.

“Theo is an example as a professional. The way they played really impressed me.”

Walcott has taken on board a lot of criticism from supporters at Everton recently, so his display should act as a major boost for his confidence.

Walcott could well stay in Everton’s line-up now, as he may well have made himself impossible to drop.

Davies will also be hoping that his showing has done enough to convince Silva to give him more game time in future.

Everton are next in action against Brighton & Hove Albion, when they will be hoping to pick up back-to-back victories, as they aim to climb up the Premier League table.
