The Leeds United attacker was blown away by supporters at Elland Road yesterday.

Tyler Roberts has paid tribute to the ‘ridiculous’ atmosphere that Leeds United fans drummed up on Saturday.

Leeds marked their 100th birthday by narrowly beating Birmingham City 1-0 yesterday.

Elland Road was hopping even before kickoff and the fans certainly gave the players that added bit of impetus as Marcelo Bielsa’s side picked up a three points that took them second in the Championship.

Roberts, a £4 million signing almost two years [The Daily Mail], started the game on the bench, but the Wales international said that the noise from the home support made walking to the dugout before kickoff special.

He told LUTV: “Yeah it was ridiculous. When I was walking on to the bench I was thinking it must’ve been amazing for the boys walking on to the pitch. The fans did an excellent job today. It was amazing.”

Fittingly, it was a Leeds boy in Kalvin Phillips who made their 100th birthday party one to remember, rifling home a Jack Harrison lay-off midway through the second half.

Going forward, there’s more questions for Bielsa’s side, specifically after failing to kill off another game convincingly, but for now the Argentine boss, nor the fans, probably won’t care.
