Mesut Ozil is struggling for playing time at Arsenal at the moment.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has suggested to The Daily Mail that Mesut Ozil could play for the club again.

Ozil has struggled to play regularly for the Gunners under Emery and is out of the team at the moment.

According to WhoScored, the attacking midfielder has played just 71 minutes in the Premier League for the North London outfit so far this season, and made 20 starts and four substitute appearances in the league during the 2018-19 campaign.

Emery has said that Ozil has improved in training, and the Arsenal manager has suggested that the 31-year-old former Real Madrid star could be back in his team this season.

Emery told The Daily Mail about Ozil: “This year started difficult for him. He worked well in pre-season and he was playing in the games. But then the problem he had along with Sead stopped him.

“After that he was sick for one week and then he lost a lot of training to keep his fitness. But in the last two to three weeks he’s improved with us in training and I think it’s good.

“I didn’t close the possibility for him to play. Because I want him to be OK and ready with being available for training and giving us a good feeling every day. Then he can play. My idea is to use every player and he is one.

“The player can help us. He has very big skills and one quality we will need in the next matches. Really I am happy now how he is improving and training every day. He is one player more in that squad.”

Back in the team

Ozil is one of the most talented players in the current Arsenal squad, and him being back in the team is only going to be beneficial to the club.

True, the Gunners are doing well without the 31-year-old at the moment, but a player of the German’s quality and calibre can only be a help to the team, not a hindrance.
