Steven Gerrard is the manager of Glasgow Rangers, while Frank Lampard is the Chelsea boss.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has suggested to The Telegraph that he has been surprised to see Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard manage Rangers and Chelsea respectively.

Gerrard was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018 and is doing brilliantly at the Gers.

As for Lampard, after guiding Derby County to the Championship playoff final last season, the former England international midfielder was appointed the Chelsea boss in the summer of 2019.

Ahead of the Premier League game between Chelsea and Newcastle this weekend, Bruce has suggested that he has been surprised that Lampard and Gerrard are in management now.

Bruce told The Telegraph: “It’s great to see somebody like Frank given the opportunity. There was a while with his generation where I didn’t think any were going to go into coaching. [Steven] Gerrard and Lampard, of that generation, are doing well.”

Succeeding at Rangers and Chelsea

Gerrard has made Rangers very competitive and good enough to challenge bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

There is a very good chance that the Gers will win the league title this campaign.

As for Chelsea, the Blues are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title this season, but they are very much in the race for a top-four finish this campaign.
