Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette could return to action after missing the club's last seven matches, Unai Emery told the official Gunners website earlier on Thursday.

The Frenchman has been suffering from an ankle problem, leaving Emery's side without some key firepower.

The recent international break has given Lacazette the opportunity to return to fitness and he's now in line to feature against Sheffield United in the English Premier League on Monday night.

As quoted by arsenal.com, Emery said of his status: "The most important thing is that first he is training, then secondly it's whether he can be with us and it depends how he can feel in the next days training with us, whether his ankle is not giving him any more problems.

"It's positive for us that he's started training and that he's a possibility for Monday. I don't know whether he's ready for 90 minutes or on the bench. We'll decide that over the next days, but it's very important for him to come back to training with us."

Lacazette had started the season well prior to his injury, scoring two goals in three top-flight appearances.

With Kieran Tierney and Mesut Ozil also potentially in line to feature, Emery has the chance to choose one of his strongest and most popular starting elevens of the season.

Fans are eager to see their manager make the call in Lacazette's case in particular, feeling he'll add real quality in he final third compared to other options.

Can he pick up where he left off and bang in the goals over the next few weeks?
