Some Arsenal fans are eager to see Mesut Ozil play against Sheffield United

The Arsenal attacking midfielder has made just one Premier League appearance this season.

Some Arsenal fans are taking to social media to plead the case for starting Mesut Ozil against Sheffield United on Monday night.

Ozil has only been seen in first-team action twice this season, starting in a 2-2 league draw against Watford and a 5-0 League Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Unai Emery has chosen to go with Dani Ceballos for the majority of matches, who has chipped in with a goal and two assists since signing in the summer.

However, during the international break there was a sign that Ozil could once again be gearing up to feature.

 

Goal.com report that the 31-year-old took part in a closed door training match against Reading last Friday, alongside others such as Kieran Tierney, with Emery looking to keep players not taking part in international action up to speed fitness wise.

Although Ozil's form has dwindled from the scintillating highs of his 2015/16 campaign, when he created 20 assists and scored eight goals in all competitions (Transfermarkt), there's still feeling amongst some fans he can produce for Arsenal if given the opportunity.

Whether Emery chooses to give him that chance remains to be seen.

There are continuing reports this month that the attacker is on his way out of the club in the upcoming transfer window (The Mirror).

Fans nonetheless remain eager to see him pull on an Arsenal shirt, with this lot taking to Twitter to share their thoughts this week ahead of Monday's match against the Blades...
