When YouTubers, vloggers or influencers get together, the online community is a bubble of love. But when the couples eventually breakup, the internet fallout is quite the spectacle.

From YouTube videos documenting the breakup to lengthy Instagram posts about what went wrong, social media becomes a heartbreak hub for these internet celebs.

We’ve seen it happen before with Liza Koshy and David Dobrik, whose breakup video has been viewed over 57 million times!

But now, British YouTubers Callux and Sarah Close are the next couple to call it quits.

So, why did Callux and Sarah breakup?

Relationship timeline: Callux and Sarah Close

Callux – real name Callum Aaron McGinley – is a 27-year-old YouTuber who has been making prank-style videos since 2012. He is currently one of Britain’s most famous YouTubers with 3.1 million subscribers and his videos have been viewed nearly half a billion times in total.

He got together with the 24-year-old singer-songwriter Sarah Close almost five years ago. They started dating in January of 2014 and their dating life was very public.

Sarah started out her career as a musician by doing covers on YouTube. She had her first single, ‘Call Me Out.’

The breakup explained!

In a video posted on October 12th, 2019 to Callux’s account, the former couple address their reasons for ending their five-year relationship.

And the video, titled ‘we broke up’, is as tear-filled and heart-breaking as expected!

Sarah said: “We have had a really nice breakup in terms of how breakups go.”

Callux continued: “It happened over a bowl of ramen, two bowls of ramen, and we cried into the bowls of ramen.”

Their last Instagram together was posted on Sarah’s account on July 19th, 2019. It is unconfirmed when the couple officially broke up, but it will have been between September and October when their social media presence dwindled.

The penultimate YouTube video

In the 8-minute long video, they detailed their reasoning for breaking up and for making a video addressing it.

Sarah explained that over the past two years she had had some difficult moments, “life-changing” she called them, which included the passing of a close family member.

The couple both agreed that they needed to find happiness within themselves before making each other happy.

There seem to be no hard feelings though, as Sarah and Callux continue to Tweet to each other and haven’t gone cold turkey on their relationship.

Hearts are broken across the internet

If the video wasn’t sad enough, Callux then went on to share what he loved about Sarah so much.

He said: “This girl sitting next to me is by far one of the most special girls that I’ve ever met in my entire life, in every single way. I feel like we’ve moulded each other, or to each other, over the last five years and the next guy is gonna be hella lucky.”

Callux continued tearfully saying, “you’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”

No wonder it took them two tries to record the breakup video!

Already, fans have been making tribute videos to the couple’s relationship on YouTube and many have taken to Twitter to share their grief over the breakup.
