Charlie Adam featured for Rangers legends against Liverpool legends on Saturday afternoon.

Charlie Adam has stated on Instagram that it was ‘amazing to be able to take my kids back to where it all started’ as he made a return to Rangers during their legends match against Liverpool on Saturday.

Midfielder Adam, who represented both Rangers and Liverpool during his career, played in the legends game at Ibrox, which the English team won 3-2.

All five goals came in the first half, with former England striker Emile Heskey netting the decisive goal, and Steven Gerrard playing for both Liverpool and Rangers.

Nonetheless, after the game, Adam sent this emotional message from his personal Instagram account, with Gerrard issuing a one-word response ‘belter’.

The other goalscorers for Liverpool were Luis Garcia and Patrick Berger, whilst Kris Boyd, who only recently retired, was one of two goalscorers for the Gers, alongside Peter Lovrenkrands – Boyd also missed a penalty during the game.

Anyhow, it was game which was well-attended, as both Rangers and Liverpool supporters saw a number of old faces from the past.

The likes of Alan Hutton turned out for Rangers again, as did Carlos Cuellar and Sasa Papac, to name a few. But the standout moment was perhaps, Rangers manager, Gerrard donning the colours of the Light Blues in the second half.

Prior to the international break, Rangers thumped Hamilton 5-0 to move to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and they will be hoping to maintain that status when they take on Hearts after the break.
