Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly want to sign Uche Ikpeazu from league rivals Hearts of Midlothian.

It is fair to say Hearts fans aren’t buying claims that Celtic are interested in raiding Tynecastle for Uche Ikpeazu.

According to West London Sport, Ikpeazu is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between clubs from both north and south of the border ahead of the January transfer window with QPR, Derby County and Wigan Athletic all apparently sending scouts to Edinburgh.

Celtic are interested in the giant centre-forward too, the report adds, though Ikpeazu’s less-than prolific goal-scoring record means links with the Scottish Premiership champions should perhaps be taken with a pinch of salt.

At least, that is what a few baffled Hearts fans are thinking.

Ikpeazu netted just eight times during his debut season with the Jam Tarts and a tally of two in 11 games in 2019/20 doesn’t exactly set the world alight.

There’s more to the 24-year-old than goals of course, with Ikpeazu’s hold up play proving invaluable over the last 12 months or so, but surely Celtic should be aiming higher if they want to create a frontline capable of scoring for fun both at home and on the continent.
