Joe Worrall at Rangers
According to The Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard’s previous comments on the former Ibrox loanee should excite the St. James’ Park faithful.
Worrall spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Rangers from Forest in the Championship.
The central defender did not exactly have a great time at Ibrox, but many of his performances for the Gers were very encouraging.
Back in August 2018 before Rangers signed Worrall, Liverpool legend Gerrard spoke highly of the youngster.
Gerrard told The Daily Record at the time: “Worrall is a fantastic player – I’ve been following him for many years with England. He’s a really good player but I don’t think I have to add to that any more.”
Newcastle do need better players defensively if they are to avoid the drop to the Championship at the end of the season, and Worrall would be a good signing for the Magpies.
However, Forest may not be willing to sell the former Rangers loanee in the middle of the season, especially if they are able to maintain their challenge for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
