Sunderland managerial target Mark Robins has signed a new contract with Coventry City.
Stephen Elliott has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Sunderland managerial target Mark Robins signing a new contract with Coventry City.
According to Sky Sports, Sunderland made an approach to Coventry to speak to Robins regarding the vacant managerial role at the Stadium of Light.
Robins himself told Sky Sports that the Black Cats had made an approach for him on Wednesday evening.
Former Sunderland forward Elliott has given his take on Robins signing a new deal.
I would have been very surprised if Sunderland would have offered the job to Mark Robins even if he had been allowed speak. Using this to get an improved deal is quite clever on Robins representatives part. #safc #ccfc— Stephen Elliott (@SleevesElliott) October 11, 2019
Sunderland are sixth in the League One table at the moment with 19 points from 11 matches, eight points behind leaders Ipswich Town and four points behind second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.
The Black Cats are very much in the race for automatic promotion to the Championship.
Sunderland will return to action after the international break when they take on Wycombe Wanderers away from home in League One.
