The Saints brought Djenepo to St Mary’s this summer for a reported £14m fee.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to celebrate Moussa Djenepo winning the September Premier League Goal of the Month award.

The Saints ace scored a superb solo effort when Ralph Hasenhuttl and co travelled to Sheffield United on 14 September, which proved to be the winning goal for the St Mary’s Stadium side.

Djenepo collected the ball midway inside the opposition half and held off a midfielder before beating two defenders and firing a powerful low drive beyond the reach of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The Mali international fought off competition from Jetro Willems, Fikayo Tomori, Jeff Hendrick, James Maddison, Aaron Cresswell, Trent Alexander-Arnold and N’Golo Kante to claim the award.

Southampton proudly announced the news on their Twitter feed and a number of fans had their say:

Djenepo, who according to The Sun cost the Saints £14million from Standard Liege this summer, has made three Premier League appearances for Southampton this season amid some injury issues, but already has two goals this term (Transfermarkt).
