Ex Southampton teammates Steven Davis and Virgil van Dijk were reunited after a dramatic international clash last night.

Davis' Northern Ireland came close to pulling off an underdog win away at UEFA Nations League winners Holland.

The away side took a shock lead in the 75th minute, before Holland fought back to equalise, and then scored two more goals in injury time to win 3-1.

Both players have since left Southampton, with Van Dijk leaving to sign with Liverpool in January 2018.

Davis departed a year later, signing on loan with Rangers, before agreeing a permanent deal at Ibrox after his contract expired in the summer.

His performance at the age of 34 against one of Europe's top international teams shows he has still got it, and Northern Ireland still have a chance to qualify for Euro 2020 despite the loss.

Both teams are in a group with Germany, with only the top two able to qualify.
