Some Celtic fans react poorly to Mohamed Elyounoussi's comments on Kristoffer Ajer

The Celtic winger suggest that the Hoops might struggle to hold on to his club and international teammate.

Some Celtic fans have been riled by Mohamed Elyounoussi's suggestion that Kristoffer Ajer might not be at the club much longer.

Elyounoussi has only been in the door at Celtic Park for a couple of months but knows all about Ajer as his Norwegian teammate.

The winger reckons he is already playing at an English Premier League level, something he'll know all about having spent a year at Southampton.

As quoted by The Daily Record, he said: "We’ll see how long we keep Kris. He’s been here a couple of years and done extremely well. I expect to see him in a bigger club in a bigger league.

"From what I have watched of him in the past and now on a daily basis and in combat, he is more than good enough for the Premier League."

 

Although Elyounoussi was probably simply trying to talk up the ability of the Celtic defender.

However, some fans have taken it the wrong way, feeling that players shouldn't be touting others for moves to 'bigger clubs'.

The 25-year-old winger hasn't exactly had the best time of it in England either, so perhaps a move to a Premier League side might not even be the best thing for Ajer at this stage of his career.

Ajer's form of late hasn't exactly been stellar either and he'll be hoping to improve over the coming weeks and months.

These supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the comments, with some suggesting Elyounoussi should focus on match action rather than giving quotes to reporters...
