Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a mvoe to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur are in poor form right now, with a series of disappointing results leaving boss Mauricio Pochettino under pressure early in the season.
Spurs were beaten 3-0 at Brighton just days after a 7-2 hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich, and Pochettino needs to come up with some answers over the international break.
The Argentinian is unlikely to be sacked any time soon, but some manager are seemingly eyeing his job for whenever he does decide to move on – and Jose Mourinho has been linked this week.
The Daily Mail claim that Mourinho is eyeing up the job as he eyes up a return to management, and would be keen to get into the job whenever Pochettino moves on.
Such a move would divide opinion, and frankly it’s hard to see him and Daniel Levy working together, but he has previously highlighted one problem for a Spurs talent.
In 2017, Mourinho told Tribuna Expresso in his native Portugal that he specifically set Manchester United up to ensure Davinson Sanchez had the ball in the 2017 Europa League final against Ajax.
Mourinho admitted that he felt Sanchez wasn’t as good with the ball at his feet as Matthijs de Ligt was, and United exploited the Colombian by ensuring he was forced to kick long rather than play in Ajax’s progressive style.
Sanchez has been out-of-sorts this season, with the 23-year-old looking short of confidence and far too rash in challenges, which Pochettino hasn’t been able to solve so far this term.
Sanchez clearly has potential, and Mourinho could get the best out of him, but after that criticism two years ago, don’t expect to see him used as a ball-playing defender.
