Argentina and Tottenham Hotspur fans have largely praised Juan Foyth’s performance for them against Germany yesterday.
Foyth was handed his first appearance of the season yesterday, as the Spurs defender returns from injury, and he helped his nation come from behind to draw 2-2 with Germany.
Foyth avoided any complications with injury, crucially for Tottenham, and his performance earned praise, considering he was not fully match sharp.
Foyth was initially stationed as a right-back for Argentine, before slotting into a central defensive role.
And observers have taken a positive view of Foyth’s first game back.
Been excellent— SWSPURS (@swspurs) October 9, 2019
Foyth had a very decent game for Argentina. Played RW & as Right sided CB in a back3. He looks sharp & fit.— arunSpurs (@arunspurs) October 9, 2019
Goes straight into the RB for me against Watford.
Foyth is so solid, but his best position is as a right center back. Would like to see him partner with Lisandro Martinez or Martinez Quarta at CB.— Matias Wodner, First of His Name (@matiwod) October 9, 2019
Tagliafico is a natural LB and will be the starter there for a long time, but the fact that he's so good at CB (at 5-8) is amazing.
He played well. Couple of times moved up the pitch passed attackers and even saved Argentina from a potential 3rd conceded goal.— Mike (@HotspudFC) October 9, 2019
Foyth has a decent game. Hopefully he will be at RB against Watford— Andy C (@all_spurs) October 9, 2019
Watched Juan Foyth playing right back for Argentina in Dortmund & he looks quite competent in that position. Could answer our need for RB at Spurs, think Poch knows he’s capable of doing a job there. #COYS— Alf Love (@alf_love47) October 9, 2019
Foyth did okay but needs to do more in attack and somtimes gets caught out of position for me more defensive midfielder of Dier type got bit more skill but only shows it when hes cornered— DAVSPURS (@davspurs) October 9, 2019
All Germany threat is down the left. Not come down Foyth side once— TAS⚽️ (@coys100) October 9, 2019
Foyth could now come back into Tottenham’s team after the international break.
Mauricio Pochettino appeared to be planning to start Foyth at right-back for his side, but he has been denied the opportunity so far this term.
Spurs have failed to find a consistent right-sided defender so far this campaign, but the hope is that Foyth’s return will solve the problem.
