Ronald Koeman worked with Rangers midfielder Steven Davis during their time at Southampton as they are now going to come up against each other on the international stage.

Ronald Koeman has waxed-lyrical about Rangers midfielder Steven Davis and stated that ‘everybody’ would like a player like him in their team.

Davis worked with Barcelona legend Koeman during their time at Southampton and they are now set to come up against each other for their respective nations.

Koeman’s Holland will take on Michael O’Neil’s Northern Ireland in a crucial Euro 2020 qualifier on Thursday night, with Davis being key to his team potentially causing an upset.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (09/10/2019 10:10 am), Koeman raved about Davis’ professionalism as a player and the qualities he possesses.

“You like to have all the players like him because he is a great professional,” Koeman told Sky Sports News.

“Quality player, he’s good on the ball and he’s the captain. Plus, he is always working. That’s what you like to have everybody [like him] in your team.”

Davis has been in outstanding form for Rangers this season and he will be hoping to transform that onto the international stage against some very tough opponents.

His performances, so far, have helped Steven Gerrard’s side top the Scottish Premiership table, but they will be well aware that there is still a long way to go.

When Davis initially moved to Ibrox in January, he was lacking the fitness and bite in his play, but now that he has that in his legs, he is looking like one of the best midfielders in Scotland.
