Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on the Tottenham Hotspur job

Tottenham Hotspur will hope to find a way out of their torrid form right now, but the media are running wild with the idea that Mauricio Pochettino will leave.

A home defeat to Newcastle United, a Carabao Cup exit to Colchester United, a 7-2 home thumping by Bayern Munich and a 3-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion are just some of the lowlights from a disappointing Spurs season to date.

Pochettino doesn’t look like quitting any time soon, but there is a belief that he may well look to leave the club at the end of the season, having spent more than five years at Spurs.

Some managers are being linked with the job even though it’s not even available yet, meaning it’s all a little premature right now, but fans may be fascinated by one emerging rumour.

The Daily Mail claim that Jose Mourinho wants the Tottenham job when Pochettino moves on, and is prepared to wait for the right opportunity rather than jump into a new role.

Mourinho has been out of management since December 2018, when his Manchester United reign turned a little sour, but his track record may just leave some interested in him coming to Spurs.

Mourinho has won the Champions League twice alongside three Premier League titles, two Serie A titles, one La Liga title, the UEFA Cup and the Europa League, among other trophies.

How he would work with Daniel Levy would be fascinating to watch, and going from a progressive coach in Pochettino to a fairly conservative boss in Mourinho may not be ideal.

It’s only two months ago that Pochettino admitted he ‘loves’ Mourinho (Football 365), but the Portuguese coach may now have his eyes on Pochettino’s job at Spurs in what could be a fascinating rumour to keep an eye on.
