Mesut Ozil has started only one Premier League game for Arsenal this season as Unai Emery continues to keep him out of his current plans.
Gilberto Silva has claimed that it has been ‘quite hard’ for Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil as he urged him to prove manager Unai Emery wrong.
It has become more and more obvious since Emery walked through the doors of the Emirates Stadium that Ozil is not the type of player he likes to play on a regular basis in his starting XI.
Well, since the start of this campaign, not only had he only played 142 minutes of football in all competitions but on five occasions, he has been left out of the matchday squad altogether.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (08/10/2019 10:05 am), former Arsenal midfielder Silva believes Ozil needs to up his game if he is to get back into Emery’s thoughts.
“There have been a lot of stories about him, whether he would play or not,” Silva told Sky Sports. “I am not close enough to understand what is going on.
“Obviously, he is a good player and I am sure it has been quite hard for him to see the game from our side. It’s about him to work hard and send a message to the manager that he is ready and that he wants to play.”
The signs so far suggest that Ozil will continue to be left out of Emery’s plans as his career at Arsenal seems to be coming to an end.

Whilst he has shown his brilliance on a number of occasions, he has also been a bit of a marmite player because of his laid back style, but regardless of that, he is still very much appreciated by the Arsenal fans.
