Like Ceballos, who is shining since moving to the Premier League on a season-long loan deal, Odegaard has struggled to force his way into the first-team plans of the 13-time European champions.
The Norway wonder-kid famously joined Los Blancos as a precocious 15-year-old though, five years on, he is yet to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabau. But a temporary move to Real Sociedad has allowed Odegaard the opportunity to prove why he was once the most coveted teenager in world football.
He has seized it with both hands too, earning the La Liga Player of the Month award for September. And, according to El Desmarque, he’s caught the eye of an Arsenal side preparing for life without Mesut Ozil, although Odegaard won’t come cheap with a £72 million price-tag on his head.
Nonetheless, Ceballos would surely give this move his seal of approval.
"I've only played alongside Odegaard for one pre-season but he still caught my attention. He can contribute a lot to La Real, he has a lot of room for improvement,” said the Spanish international.
Ceballos is only due to stay in North London until the end of the season and, who knows, perhaps Odegaard could actually replace him at Arsenal in the summer of 2020.
Then again, with the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and James Rodriguez seemingly past their best, there will surely be a chance for Ceballos and Odegaard to prove that they deserve a chance in Madrid.
