Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has yet to really impress consistently.

Arsenal haven't exactly been convincing so far this season, and the same goes for winger Nicolas Pepe following his big move from Lille.

The Gunners needed another winger over the summer, and they decided to break their transfer record in order to land Pepe ahead of a host of other clubs.

Pepe cost Arsenal a huge £72million (BBC Sport), and fans were expecting big things of the Ivorian winger after 23 goals and 12 assists for Lille last season.

He showed real promise in his first two appearances against Burnley and Liverpool, but he's been a little patchy of late, particularly struggling at Watford and Manchester United.

Pepe isn't really getting involved as much as he could, and his performances have resulted in some already calling him a Premier League flop.

That's wildly premature, as the 24-year-old is still adapting to the Premier League, and Unai Emery should be willing to persevere with him for some time yet.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger spoke to Goal about Pepe, suggesting that whilst he supported the signing of Pepe, he simply isn't playing with enough freedom in this Arsenal side.

Gunners fans took to Twitter to react to those comments, suggesting that Wenger knows best and Emery needs to be taking notes, feeling that the Spaniard needs to change his tactics in order to give Pepe more attacking freedom whilst believing that Wenger would be getting more out of Pepe than Emery is right now.
