Who is its star Zack Gottsagen?

Zack Gottsagen takes on the role of Zak in the film and effectively plays and overexaggerated version of himself.

The 34-year-old actor makes only his second acting performance in The Peanut Butter Falcon after appearing in the 2012 short film Bulletproof.

Zack's performance in the film has been one of the film's biggest plus points according to critics and it's refreshing to see a film stray from the beaten track and offer a chance to someone making their first steps into the industry.

The role has clearly put Zach's name on the map as he's already secured a role in Ready to Ride: A Musical Homecoming according to IMDb.

The Peanut Butter Falcon's Oscar potential

Since Roadside Attractions burst onto the scene in 2004, it and its films have managed to pick up two Oscar wins, both for 2017's Manchester By The Sea and 17 other nominations for films ranging from the Jennifer Lawrence-starring Winter's Bone and Alejandro G. Inarritu's Biutiful.

The Peanut Butter Falcon joins impressive company in being a Roadside Attractions production and given its incredibly talented breakout star in Zack Gottsagen, could well be up for a nomination or two come early 2020.

Even if the film didn't win anything, a nomination could be a huge factor in getting more people to see the film after what has been comparatively poor box office performance to date.
