The Ibrox boss is set to feature in a legends match between Rangers and Liverpool.

Some Rangers fans are excited about the possibility of seeing Steven Gerrard in a Gers jersey this weekend, as the club take on a Liverpool legends side at Ibrox.

The match serves as perfect international break entertainment for the Gers and Liverpool support, with big names set to feature for both sides.

Interestingly, Gerrard will wear his famous number eight jersey for the Reds to begin with, but the Ibrox boss has teased he could well wear blue for the second 45 minutes.

As quoted by, he said of the Saturday game: “I always look forward to a game of football.

“I’m going to play for Liverpool and who knows, there might be a little cameo in a blue shirt as well we’ll have to see.”

Rather curiously, the number eight shirt on the club’s official squad list for the occasion has been left blank.

The stars are clearly aligning for the England legend to finally make his bow as a player at Ibrox.

Fans have previously been entertained by small video snippets of the manager taking part in training.

Now though they’ll get a chance to see him in action in a match setting.

With other favourites like Jorg Albertz and Sasa Papac also taking part, there’ll be plenty to enjoy for home supporters.

These fans are giddy at the though of watching their manager play, taking to Twitter this week to share their thoughts…
