Everton have struggled so far this season, with Marco Silva’s side currently sat in 18th place in the Premier League table.
The Toffees were beaten 1-0 by Burnley at the weekend to increase frustrations among their supporters.
And Sigurdsson’s words about staying together have seemingly fallen on deaf ears.
“We can learn from last year – we were in a tough position and managed to get ourselves out of it,” the Icelandic international said.
“It’s been very frustrating and disappointing the last few weeks. Mentally, it’s very tough and it’s not easy to be in this position.
“I think we can do it [improve our results]. We have to stick together and make sure we work even harder.”
The problem for Sigurdsson is that Everton fans have heard similar words after almost every defeat this season.
And, with the playmaker not flavour of the month at Goodison Park, his comments have been widely criticised by Toffees supporters.

Sigurdsson’s own form has been one of the main reasons why Everton have struggled so badly this term.
The creator has failed to offer enough creativity to his side, with many supporters calling for him to be dropped.
Silva has so far stuck by Sigurdsson, but whether he will after the international break remains to be seen.
Everton are next in action in two weekends' time, when they take on West Ham United.
