ITV’s Sanditon nears its conclusion but just how many episodes are left?
Who doesn’t love a good period drama? They’re often full of intrigue, romance and plenty of cracking outfits.
ITV’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sanditon offers that up in spades, even if the series may not stick as closely to the unfinished novel as some may have liked.
Over the course of the last few weeks, we’ve got to know Sanditon’s cast of characters and become engrossed in their storylines.
However, we’ve not got long left until the ITV series bids farewell to Charlotte, Sidney and co as well as the idyllic seaside town of Sanditon.
What’s Sanditon about?
Sanditon tells the story of Charlotte Heywood as she begins a new life in the picturesque seaside town of Sanditon.
While the town hopes to shift its identity from a measly fishing port into a holiday destination for the wealthy, Charlotte is beset by potential suitors including the mean, moody and magnificent Sidney Parker.
How many episodes in Sanditon?
The Sanditon series started way back on August 25th, with an episode airing each Sunday since at 9pm on ITV.
In total, the series will have eight episodes with the final episode airing on October 13th.
At the time of writing, a second series of the Jane Austen adaptation has not been confirmed. However, the show’s creator and writer, Andrew Davies, has hinted in an interview with the Radio Times that he would be keen for the series to continue.
In the interview, which is quoted in the Express, Davies said: “I do have a few ideas.”
“I hope we then get to a point where an audience says, ‘You can’t leave it at that!’” he continued.
Sanditon’s filming locations
Jane Austen’s Sanditon is set in the fictional seaside town of the same name and for the TV series, ITV has used locations across the South West to bring the series to life.
For interior scenes, a lot of the filming took place at the Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol.
Meanwhile, the rest of the series was filmed around Somerset with the fictional Sanditon Hall actually being represented the stunning Dyrham Park near Bath.
On top of that, the seaside towns of Weston Super Mare, Brean and Clevedon played host to the series as well with the latter two playing host to the series’ stunning beaches and seafronts.
Series 1 of ITV’s Sanditon concludes on Sunday, October 13th at 9pm.
