Loris Karius is on loan at Besiktas from Liverpool.

Loris Karius has suggested to The Guardian that he could be back at Liverpool next season.

Karius joined Turkish giants Besiktas on a two-year loan deal from Premier League outfit Liverpool in the summer of 2018.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper moved to the Reds back in the summer of 2016, but he made a number of high-profile mistakes during his time at Anfield, including in the Champions League final in 2018.

The German goalkeeper has suggested that he could be back at Liverpool in the summer of 2020.

Karius told The Guardian: “I have a loan until the end of the season and then I will see, back to Liverpool or somewhere else in England or somewhere in Germany, you never know. Right now my focus is on playing games here every week and then we’ll see.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here. Of course if you play in England you are a bit more in the spotlight, but it’s a good club here, of course with some problems now and then. It was not always easy the last year and a bit since I’m here but overall the first season was quite good.

“The Premier League is the best league so it’s interesting of course but also I am still under contract at Liverpool, so maybe I’ll play for Liverpool again, you never know. It’s difficult to say now. If it’s not Liverpool it will be another decent team I am sure, so I am not worried.”

No return to Liverpool?

Liverpool are well stocked in the goalkeeping department at the moment, and it is hard to see manager Klopp give Karius another chance.

Alisson is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield, and given the mistakes that Karius has made, the Merseyside outfit’s fans will not be too pleased if he plays another game for the team.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Karius is under contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2021.
