A certain Ivan Sunjic was said to be on Leeds United's radar during the summer.

According to The Daily Mail, the Championship leaders had a bid rejected for the 22-year-old midfielder, amid speculation of Kalvin Phillips leaving Elland Road.

Phillips wound up staying at Leeds - and later signing a new contract - while Sunjic ultimately joined Birmingham City in a £6 million deal [Mail].

The Championship can be an intimidating league for foreign imports, but Sunjic has enjoyed a brilliant start and it got even better on Friday.

The Croatia international played a blinder in the Blues' 2-1 win over Middlesbrough last night, stationing himself as Pep Clotet's sentry in midfield, constantly breaking up the visitors' attacks.

Here's how Birmingham fans reacted to his display:

Leeds, who focused mainly on loan signings this past summer, would not have splurged the £6 million that City did anyway, so they didn't exactly miss out.

But it's clear to see that Sunjic is a fantastic talent and Marcelo Bielsa was certainly on the right track in wanting him in West Yorkshire.
