The Gunners wonderkid has been impressive for Unai Emery and co this term but he hasn’t made the Young Lions squad.

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan the England Under-21 team announcement, which does not feature the Gunners wonderkid Bukayo Saka.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene this season following an impressive four appearances for Unai Emery’s side, including a goal and two assists in the Europa League win over Eintracht Frankfurt and an assist against Manchester United in the Premier League (Whoscored).

In terms of international football, Saka has featured for England’s Under-19s but, following a very bright few weeks in which he’s shown he can mix it up at top-level senior football, there were hopes that he could make the step up to the Under-21s.

Following the England U21s squad announcement, however, this has not been the case, and some Arsenal fans on social media made their feelings clear about the talented winger’s absence:

Saka started 2018-19 with Arsenal’s Under-18s, but by the end of the season he was one of the key players for the Under-23s and made his first team debut at Emirates Stadium, all at just 17 years of age.

Described as having “electric pace and a killer final ball”, Saka made 34 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners youngsters last season, scoring 14 and assisting 12 (official Arsenal website).
