Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles failed to impress supporters with his performance last night.
Arsenal fans have criticised Ainsley Maitland-Niles for his performance in the Europa League against Standard Liege.
Arsenal won 4-0 last night as they strolled to success against their Belgian opponents.
Most of the Gunners starting line-up received big praise for their performances.
But Maitland-Niles’s struggles continued, as he failed to make much of an impression on the match.
And Arsenal fans are now worried about the academy graduate’s confidence.
What is really wrong with Maitland Niles?— Certified Gunner (@Castrofied) October 3, 2019
I enjoyed watching my boys today, well except Maitland-Niles who under-performed.— theGoonerMenu (@Aubamezzette) October 3, 2019
Maitland-Niles was extremely poor tonight, he didn’t create anything on his side and for someone who wants to be an attacking midfielder his performance tonight did him no favours!— Valon Demiri (@ValonDemiri1) October 3, 2019
So we’re all on board with selling Ainsley Maitland-Niles at the end of this season, right?— internet stranger (@Bathong_Ray) October 3, 2019
Yesterday the quality of Maitland Niles was exposed— ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (@vineeofficiale) October 4, 2019
AMN has been really poor and hasn’t shown much. Pepe needs to come on at the hour mark to get some confidence. #AFC— Gunner Down Under (@westsydneyAFC) October 3, 2019
Over the moon with everyone’s performance, except for AMN, he’s looked a bit lazy to be honest. He needs to do better if he wants the play for The Arsenal.— The opinionated Icelander (@FfanaticAFCBAR) October 3, 2019
Maitland-Niles has often been used out of position by Unai Emery, but he was offered a run at right-wing last night.
The England youth international has suggested that he feels more confident playing in midfield than defence, but his display last night is unlikely to have convinced Emery to use him as a winger more often.
Arsenal have now won their first two Europa League matches to put them in a commanding position in the group.
