Some Rangers fans have been left disappointed by the performance of James Tavernier during tonight's UEFA Europa League defeat away to Young Boys.

Steven Gerrard's men took the lead in Switzerland thanks to a fine Alfredo Morelos finish in the first half.

However, after the break, the home side were far more aggressive with possession and managed to capitalise on an awful Tavernier error to equalise.

With the captain losing possession on the right flank, the Gers defence failed to deal with an advancing Ulisses Garcia, who crossed the ball in for Roger Assale to prod home.

Tavernier again appeared to be at fault for the Swiss side's dramatic late winner in a 2-1 result.

It's not the first time in his Rangers career that the Ibrox stalwart has been far too casual and allowed the opposition to find their way to goal.

In fact, for some supporters, it's happening with alarming regularity.

Given he's one of the first names on the team sheet under Gerrard, he needs to show far more composure on these occasions and stand up when counted.

On a night that should have resulted in a win or a draw, Rangers head home with nothing to show for their efforts.
