Dinamo Zagreb’s Amer Gojak could have joined Premier League duo Southampton or West Ham United but now Barcelona and City are watching him.

West Ham United and Southampton were both interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Amer Gojak over the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo – but now the youngster is on the radar of Barcelona and Manchester City.
All the talk might have been focused on another Zagreb wonderkid, Spain U21 star Dani Olmo, but Gojak himself is also emerging as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders.
At the age of 22, he already has four Croatian league titles to his name, as well as eight caps and three goals for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. And, according to BNM, he is already more impressive than a certain Luka Modric was at the same age.
Now, Gojak is playing Champions League football, although he managed just half an hour off the bench in Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
His lack of minutes might have come as a disappointment to Pep Guardiola’s side with Mundo Deportivo claiming that City’s transfer chief Txiki Begiristain was keen to check him out in the flesh. Barcelona’s sporting director Eric Abidal was also at the Etihad to watch Gojak in action.

Zagreb are used to interest in one of their prized assets, however, turning down offers from a number of clubs including West Ham and Southampton over the summer.
Now, with all due respect to the Hammers and The Saints, Gojak could be set for bigger and better things.
