A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the Villa Park club's latest injury update ahead of their Premier League trip to Norwich City.
Left-back Targett was substituted early in the second half of last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Burnley due to a suspected hamstring injury, while Mings suffered a shin knock late on in the game.
Kodjia, meanwhile, has been out with a fractured cheekbone, and recently had a mask fitted to his face as he steps up his return to full training, while Chester continues to build up his fitness and is set to get more minutes for the Under-23s.
“Matt Targett hasn’t trained yet since the weekend," Smith is quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying. "But nothing showed up on the scan in terms of a hamstring issue, which is really pleasing. However, he certainly felt something so we’ve got be very cautious with him. But he will start training on Wednesday ready for the Norwich game.
“Jonathan Kodjia is training fully now with the mask on so we have people coming back from injury, which is good to see... (Chester) needs more minutes. We will get some more game time into him.”
Here is what some Villa fans said in response to the club's Twitter update:
Why not go with hause at left back— Tom Hendry (@TomhendryAV) 2 October 2019
Targett is available for selection— e (@EliElGhazi) 2 October 2019
Targett played well both defensively and moving forward. He’s definitely my pick for left back.— Craig Osborne (@craigosborne19) 2 October 2019
So that probably means Taylor’s playing at the weekend ♂️— Will Cornforth (@corno111) 2 October 2019
Fitness an issue but love to see Kodjia given a run. Clearly Smith prefers a more physical presence up top but Kodjia is our best goal scorer #avfc— Mr Thompson (@mrthompson81) 2 October 2019
In all fairness Taylor played awful against burnley— Lewis Price (@Lewis__Price_) 2 October 2019
Taylor should be nowhere near the 16. Needs about 30 games in the U21 or a loan to work on his game— Spencer Waller (@SJ_AV81) 2 October 2019
get kodja in ASAP and drop wesley— pjhollis74 (@pjhollis74) 2 October 2019
Won’t bring him straight back in though unfortunately— Okay (@Okay170) 2 October 2019
id say after the first minute myself not 60— pjhollis74 (@pjhollis74) 2 October 2019
