Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele featured as Mauricio Pochettino’s side were beaten 7-2 last night.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have criticised Tanguy Ndombele for his role in Bayern Munich’s second goal.
There is a widespread feeling that Ndombele was Tottenham’s best player last night in their 7-2 defeat to Bayern.
The Frenchman was actually off the pitch when Spurs conceded three late goals, and his influence in midfield was clearly missed.
But Ndombele didn’t even cover himself in glory for the entire match.
The summer signing gave away possession too cheaply just before half-time, and he was made to pay when Robert Lewandowski capitalised and put Bayern in-front.
Ndombele’s first touch has now been criticised by some Spurs fans, who feel that he needs to sharpen up defensively.
He’s been rubbish tonight again, was woeful in Greece too.— Phill O’Donnell (@THFCMavericks) October 1, 2019
I have officially had it with Ndombele. Even though he scored with a clubfooted strike Saturday, he is perpetually in a sleep walk! Best exhibited right now before the half with his ridiculous inability to clear out of the box enough is enough. #Spurs #COYS— saxman (@JUSTtheSAX) October 1, 2019
Ndombele doesn’t close down on the first goal. Doesn’t clear the ball on the second goal. He’s proving a big time defensive liability— RMacs (@PhillyHotspur) October 1, 2019
People rightly pointing out how rubbish Pepe has been for arsenal. Well, Ndombele has gifted Bayern the lead there with a shocking inability to kick or control a football. His ball control makes Sissoko look like Messi. Awful. Danger cleared and would have gone in 1-1.— Christophat Wicked (@GrownStudent) October 1, 2019
Individual mistakes cost us, partly due to our change of system. Sissoko, winks, Ndombele too deep & we play deeper in our half. Also, Ndombele is blowing after 30mins, and that means we don’t press as a team. players also look confused as to their role, will take time to settle— Sanj (@hod_almighty) October 1, 2019
Every time Ndombele gets subbed off he moves like a 70 year old man who’s whole body has just been in a spasm. He looks like a quality player but how is he still so unfit?— Richard Holmes (@richolmestwit) October 1, 2019
Ndombele is so unfit— mǝl (@ovomelly) October 1, 2019
Despite the error, Ndombele was still one of the few Tottenham players to leave the stadium last night with any credit.
Spurs were battered in the contest but Ndombele’s display, particularly in the first-half, did cause Bayern some problems.
Tottenham have now failed to win either of their first two Champions League games so far this season.
