Pontus Jansson left Leeds United in the summer and he is now hoping to potentially guide his new club Brentford into the play-offs this season.

Pontus Jansson has congratulated Luke Ayling on Instagram after the Leeds United defender signed a new contract at Elland Road.

On Tuesday, Leeds confirmed on their official website that right-back Ayling has added another four more years to his current deal.

Last season, both Ayling and Jansson were part of a pretty strong Leeds United defensive line, but the latter’s departure in the summer meant that Leeds had to search for a new centre-back – Brighton loanee Ben White was the man selected.

Nonetheless, this was the eight-word message Jansson sent to Ayling after he agreed on a new contract with the Championship promotion hopefuls: ‘So happy for you my friend. Well deserved’.

Right-back Ayling has been an underrated figure for Leeds United for a number of years now.

Whilst he returned to action last night during Leeds’ win against West Brom, the ever-reliable Stuart Dallas has been playing in his position.

When Ayling does make a proper return to action, he may have his work cut out in reclaiming his place back in Bielsa’s starting XI.

But the positive for Leeds and their supporters is that it makes their squad even stronger as they push for promotion to the Premier League once again.
