Tottenham Hotspur endured a humiliating 7-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night, with ex-Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho playing his part in the middle of the park.
Liverpool supporters on Twitter have spoken in awe of Philippe Coutinho after he helped Bayern Munich thrash Tottenham 7-2 in quite a remarkable Champions League match on Tuesday night.
Coutinho played the full match for Bayern as the German club ran riot on helpless Spurs, who have endured a nightmare start to the new season.
Former Premier League player Serge Gnabry netted a stunning four goals, as Coutinho and his Bayern players enjoyed one of their best nights in Europe.
Ex-Liverpool fan favourite Coutinho left Anfield during the January 2018 transfer window as Barcelona paid £142 million for his services [BBC Sport], he has since moved on a season-long loan to Bayern.
It is fair to say that Jurgen Klopp's side have enjoyed some serious success since Coutinho left them, but they were still impressed with the showing he put up in North London.
As expected, every Bayern player stood out, but Liverpool fans loved watching Coutinho turn it on in the middle of the park once again.
Before the game, even if some would have predicted Bayern to win, no-one would have backed the Bundesliga outfit to produce such a stunning display.
Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Coutinho's performance:
