Sissoko was shifted out to the right-hand side of defence during Tottenham’s last match against Southampton after Serge Aurier’s red card.
After a brief adaptation period, Sissoko began to thrive in the position.
With Tottenham relatively short on options at right-back, following the departure of Kieran Trippier, Sissoko could now have staked a claim to earn a regular spot in the position.
And Pochettino admits that he is considering using the 30-year-old there.
“Yes. He's one of the possibilities, but last season or the one before I remember him finishing the games in this position,” Pochettino said.
“You remember last season against Barcelona in the Champions League, in the last 15 or 20 minutes, he played in that position. It's not new eh? You need to make memory only to know he was playing there in the past.”
Whether Sissoko will get the nod to play right-back or in central midfield tonight for Spurs remains to be seen.
Aurier’s suspension does not count for Champions League matches, but Pochettino may not want to trust the Ivorian again after his rash display at the weekend.
Tottenham’s chances of progressing from their group in the Champions League would take a huge boost if they are able to win against Bayern Munich this evening.
