Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a major UEFA Champions League blow after losing to Bayern Munich 7-2 on Tuesday night.

After drawing away to Olympiacos on matchday one, hopes were high that Mauricio Pochettino's side could summon the spirit of last season's campaign and pick up their first win in this year's competition.

However, the visiting Germans were just too strong, equalising an early Tottenham opener before surging to a 4-1 advantage in the second half.

Despite Spurs' best efforts and a Harry Kane penalty, the home side just couldn't make anything else stick in the final third.

Bayern would go on to add three more late in the game.

One of the more criticised players on the night was midfielder Harry Winks.

He just couldn't seem to get to grips with the midfield battle, produce much in attack, nor provide effective protection for the Spurs defensive line.

According to stat tracking website WhoScored, he was the lowest rated outfield player on the pitch, making a critical error prior to Bayern's fourth goal of the evening.

The Spurs star is a real favourite of Pochettino, playing in all of their Premier League matches so far this season, as well as both of their European tests.

Whether this display will prompt the manager to make changes remains to be seen. He was far from being the only poor performer.
