Lukasz Fabianski could be missing for three months so could Nathan Trott be heading back to Premier League West Ham United?

It was all going so well for West Ham United.

Going into Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth, Manuel Pellegrini’s side were third in the Premier League table after a deserved 2-0 victory against Manchester United. So a long term injury to their star man and number one goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski could hardly have been timed any worse.

According to the Guardian, the Poland international could be sidelined for three months with a serious hip problem.

33-year-old Roberto Jimenez will be tasked to step up and fill a considerable void between the sticks but, with that 4-0 thumping at Oxford United still fresh in the memory, the Spaniard is not short of doubters.

So what about Nathan Trott? The Bermuda-born youngster is yet to make his first-team debut for The Hammers and joined Wimbledon on loan in the summer but, after just eight games in League One, a number of Hammers fans are already asking whether there is a re-call clause in his contract.

Called up to the England U21s in April, 20-year-old Trott is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the country and, if Fabianski and Roberto are the present, he is certainly the future.
