Spurs will host Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in the Champions League but can Harry Kane take his Premier League form into Europe?

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has described Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane as a ‘world-class’ striker ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash between the English and German giants in North London, as reported by BuliNews.

In arguably the most intriguing match of the competition so far, arguably the two best centre-forwards anywhere in world football are about to go head to head.

Kane has found the net six times in eight games already and looked back to his influential best in Satutday’s hard-fought 2-1 win against Southampton but the England captain can only look on with envy at Robert Lewandowski’s early season form.

It is 12 goals in nine games so far for the Pole, who is better than ever at the age of 31. No one in Bundesliga history had ever netted ten times in their first six games of a Bundesliga season until Lewandowski found the net against Paderborn over the weekend, leaving the great poacher Gerd Muller choking on his dust and establishing himself as a genuine Bayern legend.

And Rummenigge cannot wait for this great battle to commence.

"They are perhaps the best strikers in the world at the moment and both play a vital role,” he said.

"Kane is a top player who scores an incredible number of goals - just like Robert does. Robert is on a great run of form, and I hope he will outscore Harry Kane on Tuesday. But it's not easy to keep him quiet. He's a world-class forward.”

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen rolled back the years when Southampton came to town and their return to form could hardly be better timed with Lewandowski looking to maintain his remarkable streak in the English capital.

But, as ever, Spurs will need Kane at his best if they are to secure a famous win on Tuesday.
