The Glasgow Rangers summer signing was doubted by sections of the Ibrox fanbase but he certainly delivered for Steven Gerrard and co on Saturday.

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been commenting on Twitter about which Ibrox players stood out for them in Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen and Greg Stewart was especially praised following his impressive display against one of his ex-clubs.

The 29-year-old made his first Rangers start since his summer move from Birmingham City, netting his first goal for the Ibrox club as the Light Blues handed the visitors their biggest defeat since December 2010.

Stewart scored the second goal of the afternoon against the side he had two loan spells at, while James Tavernier’s penalty brace and further strikes from Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe helped lift Rangers to within one point of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, who dropped two points at Hibernian.

The forward linked up really well with Alfredo Morelos and could probably have had two or three, and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard himself admitted after the league win that the summer arrival had given him “something to think about” in terms of team selection (BBC Sport).

Here is what some Bears said on social media about the £450,000-valued (Transfermarkt) player’s display at Ibrox:
