The Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper added to his catalogue of errors on Saturday.
Hugo Lloris has done it again in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
The World Cup-winning goalkeeper is no stranger to a clanger and has made quite a few for club and country in recent years.
And Lloris added to his catalogue of ‘WTF’ moments in Tottenham’s narrow 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Danny Ings cancelled out Tanguy Ndombele’s opener for Spurs five minutes before the break by capitalising on a mistake after Lloris tried – and failed – to execute a Cryuff turn while under pressure.
Here’s how Gary Lineker reacted to the mare on Twitter:
Oh dear Hugo. There are cock-ups and then there are giant cock-ups. Lloris’s is up there in the giant category.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 28, 2019
In Lloris’s defence, the Lilywhites star did go on to make some truly brilliant saves in the second half.
They proved to be huge moments for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who had to play with 10 men for more than half the match following Serge Aurier’s sending off.
So yes, the former Lyon star did ‘cock up’ in Lineker’s words, but he atoned for the mistake on several occasions.
