The Baggies summer signing could win his eighth senior cap against one of the world’s best footballing nations.

West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi has been called up to the Nigeria international squad for their upcoming friendly against Brazil.

The Baggies summer signing has been included in the 23-man Super Eagles squad that will face the five-time world champions in an international friendly match on October 13, at the Singapore National Stadium.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made the announcement on their Twitter page, and West Brom shared it on their channel, congratulating their player:

Ajayi has been in inspired form for Slaven Bilic’s side since arriving at The Hawthorns from Rotherham United in the summer for a reported £1.3million fee (Daily Mail), and in a short space of time he has already become a Baggies fan favourite.

The 25-year-old has played every minute of every West Brom game this season – eight in the Championship and one in the League Cup – and has scored in back-to-back league games, against Fulham and Huddersfield Town.

At international level, Ajayi made his Nigeria senior debut just over a year ago under Gernot Rohr, in the 3-0 win over the Seychelles in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, and so far he has seven senior caps under his belt, according to Transfermarkt.
