Miller suffered an injury while playing for Celtic's reserves last week.

Calvin Miller of Celtic is seen during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on May 9, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Celtic left-back Calvin Miller will not play again this season.

Miller suffered an injury during the early stages of Celtic's reserve team friendly against Hibernian last week.

Although details of the issue were not disclosed, the youngster was somewhat ominously wished a speedy recovery by the Bhoys' official Twitter account.

And posting on Instagram earlier on Thursday, Miller confirmed that he has undergone surgery which will keep him sidelined until 2020/21.

He wrote:

Miller had looked likely to leave Celtic Park on loan in the summer transfer window, after the Bhoys recruited Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo and Greg Taylor in his position.

And his injury could have an impact on the future of Andrew Gutman, whose loan to FC Cincinnati expires this winter.

Andrew Gutman #96 of FC Cincinnati kicks the ball during the game against the Columbus Crew SC at Nippert Stadium on August 25, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Another left-back, Gutman has impressed back in his native United States, although it remains to be seen whether he yet qualifies for a work permit to play in Scotland.
