Can you play multiplayer with friends in Mario Kart Tour?

When Will Mario Kart Tour Have Multiplayer

Everything you must know about whether you can play multiplayer with friends in the recently launched Mario Kart Tour.

Mario Kart Tour has just launched on iOS and Android and the reception hasn't been all that fantastic thanks to its launch day woes and out-of-touch subscription fee. Not only that, but there's also some confusion as to how players can add friends and whether multiplayer is playable.

One of the many errors to plague the mobile instalment so far is error 806; a defect believed to be caused by the amount of players attempting to connect to its servers.

While the above is an issue in and of itself, this article will only relate to how to add friends and when multiplayer will be playable.

How to add friends in Mario Kart Tour

Kart Racers like Mario Kart Tour are titles that are fun when played alone, but are undeniably best experienced when playing with mates. With that being said, the good news before the bad is that you can add friends.

In order to add friends in Mario Kart Tour, you will either need to give them your 12-digit code or receive their code. You can find your code in - where else - the Friends section in the main menu, where you'll also be able to input your mate's codes in the Add Friends section.

Once you've added your pals, you'll be able to see how they're ranked and how they've been faring in races compared to yourself. While this is neat, the bad news is that it's impossible to enjoy multiplayer with these added comrades as of writing.

When will Mario Kart Tour have multiplayer?

We don't have a specific date for when multiplayer will be introduced to Mario Kart Tour.

This is unquestionably a disappointing omission that makes its launch all the more confusing, but the yang to this troubling yin is that it will eventually be implemented.

Players know this because the Multiplayer feature is currently grayed out with the promise that it is Inbound. This means you should soon be able to race around the chaotic and deadly racetracks from hell against your mates rather than just the AI all the time.

Mario Kart Tour is available on iOS and Android.
