The Liverpool winger is out of action with a calf injury.

Liverpool fans on Twitter are disappointed by a development about Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Switzerland international will play no part in tonight’s League Cup trip to MK Dons due to a calf problem, as confirmed by assistant coach Pep Lijnders [The Echo].

Having played just 11 minutes in the Premier League this season, Shaqiri, who claimed recently that he’s unhappy with the amount of playing time he has been given, would’ve been looking forward to potentially making a statement to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tonight.

But that won’t happen now and it remains to be seen when the former Bayern Munich and Stoke City winger – who earns £80,000 per week on Merseyside [Spotrac] – is back in action.

Have Liverpool stumbled upon a perfect centre-back pairing?

Here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to the blow:

It’s hard not to feel sorry for the 28-year-old, whose playing time tailed off toward the end of last season and this is another big backwards step for his first-team hopes.
