Rangers boss Steven Gerrard obviously has strong connections with Liverpool, from his time as a player there.
Gerrard has just managed his 75th game in charge at Rangers, and he has done an impressive job at Ibrox.
Rangers may not have added any silverware to their trophy cabinet under Gerrard yet, but significant progress has definitely been made.
And Klopp believes that when he does leave Liverpool, Gerrard should be the man to take his place.
“If Liverpool were to sack me tomorrow, then maybe Kenny would be the first choice to replace me, but they would probably bring Stevie down from Glasgow,” Klopp said.
“If you ask who should follow me, I’d say Stevie. I help him whenever I can.”
Gerrard managing Liverpool in the future does have an air of inevitability around it, even though Rangers will want to hold on for him for years yet.
Klopp’s current contract at Liverpool lasts until 2022, and there is no sense that his departure is imminent.
Gerrard has made no secret of his desire to help Rangers win the league title again during his time at Ibrox, and his side look in fairly good shape to rival Celtic this term.
Rangers may have lost the first Old-Firm derby of the season, but they have won every other game they have played, and currently sit just three points behind their Glasgow rivals.
