Everton boss Marco Silva has fallen under increasing pressure at Goodison Park of late.

Everton fans have been left less than impressed by Marco Silva’s comments, even though they were intended as a rallying cry.

Everton lost 2-0 to Sheffield United at the weekend, which has heaped the pressure on Silva.

The Portuguese boss’s side have performed well below expectations this season, and they currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Silva attempted to bring Everton fans together after the defeat, with his comments to the Liverpool Echo.

He said: "We have to show the personality and desire this club demands. Playing for this club you are asking about the pressure of the reaction (from fans) as well, playing at this type of club, you have to show that reaction, whoever you are.

"To be an Everton football player, an Everton manager to represent this club you have to show a really strong personality and character, and that desire we have to put from the first until the end, and after we will see the results.

However, his words have not really have the intended impact on the Everton crowd.

Toffees fans claim that they have heard similar from previous managers before, and Silva needs to do his talking through results rather than speaking to the press.

Everton are in action later this evening against Sheffield Wednesday, when there is now extreme pressure on his side.

If the Toffees do lose then frustrations will only rise at Goodison Park, and that could prove hugely costly to Silva.
