Some Everton fans have called for Mikel Arteta to be given the job over Marco Silva.
Everton boss Silva has come under increasing pressure, after what has been an underwhelming start to the season.
The Toffees went into the campaign with hopes of breaking into the top six, after what was another big spending summer.
However, Everton have been in poor form so far this season and were beaten 2-0 by Sheffield United in front of their own fans on Saturday.
Everton are now sat in 14th place in the Premier League table, and if they don’t improve in the coming weeks then Silva is in danger of being the first top flight boss to lose his job this season.
If Silva does go then there is now a growing clamour for Arteta to be given a chance.
If Everton do sack Silva they have to go down the same route as Chelsea in my opinion. Sign a manager who understands the club, is a club legend and has an affinity with the fans. Mikel Arteta seems like the only viable option. They need to gut the squad, consolidate and build— Bootle Bucks (@BootleFCBucks) September 22, 2019
Can honestly see Silva getting the sack before Christmas he hasn't got a clue , we're completely predictable and his only plan is to bring Walcott on.— Keith Lally (@KEITHLALLY1) September 22, 2019
We need to start playing 2 up front. Would love to see Arteta get the job.
SILVA OUT ARTETA IN— Michael Hutton (@Michael_Hutton7) September 21, 2019
Even though I do want silva to stay till the end of the season and these early calls to go wind me up, I’d love Micky arteta to come back as manager— liam anderson (@LiamAnderson66) September 21, 2019
And effectively just put him right at the front of the queue to replace Silva. I’d have Arteta here tomorrow. 3 years under Pep, knows the club and it’s morals and standards. Get him in here now https://t.co/OC8uefoxIW— hoogie (@hoogie1) September 21, 2019
Big risk but id have arteta over silva anyday.unproven i know but the whole ethos he will have learned under guardiola probably the best manager in world football the past few years hasto count for something.jose is a liabilty in the sense that he tends to lose the players..— Darren Robinson Cooke (@dazcooke2374) September 21, 2019
The Spaniard was a hugely popular midfielder during his playing days at Everton and he has developed a reputation as a very exciting potential manager.
Arteta is currently at Manchester City, where he is working as part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom team.
