Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio has admitted to the club’s official website that he always expected his side to have problems against the in-form Odsonne Edouard during Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash at Parkhead.
He was right, too.
The reigning Premiership Player of the Month maintained his brilliant start to the season with two more goals against Killie, powering home a header before peeling away to slot home a clinical right-footed finish either side of half time.
Edouard now has eight goals in all competitions and another rampaging display from the one-time Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid will not have come as a shock to Alessio.
“The shape was good, and I was happy with our discipline against Celtic. They’re a very good team, and it’s always going to be difficult against good players like Edouard,” said the Italian.
“Today was tough, but we remain positive.”
Edouard is going from strength to strength now and it’s a testament to how much he has grown under Neil Lennon that no one is questioning Celtic’s decision to make him the most expensive player in their history now.
And if the Frenchman continues in this vein of form, The Hoops will be guaranteed a massive profit – not that anyone is thinking about cashing in just yet.
