Stoke City have endured a tough start to the Championship season, but Tottenham Hotspur loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers helped them to a clean sheet against Brentford on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Camerton-Carter Vickers is receiving some positive feedback by supporters after he helped Stoke City record a much-needed clean sheet against Brentford on Saturday.
Nathan Jones’ side, who were one of the favourites for promotion before a ball was kicked, are yet to win a game this season and have started off the campaign in a disastrous manner.
Centre-back Carter-Vickers, who is on-loan at the Staffordshire-based club, didn’t play a game for Stoke until their clash against Leeds towards the back end of last month.
He ended up coming into the side as Jones tried to find the right formula, both defensively and offensively, as his team struggled to prove their worth.
Since then, he has been a regular, and whilst Stoke are still searching for a win, he did help them secure a clean sheet against a free-flowing Brentford team at Griffin Park.
Despite the negativity around Stoke, fans were lauding Carter-Vickers for his powerful performance, as he will be hoping to get his club out of the current mess they find themselves in.
For the last few seasons, he has been on-loan at a number of clubs, as his career at Spurs seems to be slipping away from him.
If Carter-Vickers fails to impress during his current loan spell then it won’t be a surprise if his parent club decides to part ways with him.
But if he can produce a strong display, and somehow from their current position, help Stoke to promotion then it will bode well for his Premier League career.
Here is a selection of fans reacting to Carter-Vickers performance:
I don’t know why everyone’s slating Tom Ince, he was arguably our best player yesterday alongside Badou and Carter Vickers. Some supporters haven’t got a clue— ruby (@rubyourock) September 22, 2019
#USMNT Cameron Carter-Vickers went the full 90 for Stoke today in their 0-0 draw v. Brentford and put in quite the performance. Blocked 1 shot, 2 interceptions, 3 tackles, won 5/6 duels, 85% passing, and had 4/6 accurate long balls. Good to see the big man playing so well.— Mr. Silence Dogood (@POTP_Silence) September 21, 2019
Second half (what I saw) – Ndiaye, Etebo and Carter Vickers really standing out positively. As well as Tyrese as a sub.— Sam (@SamTheLost) September 21, 2019
McClean, I understand the negativity but he’s the best we have at LB. Baath, generally did fine but so many small issues and Gregory on his own the negatives.
Carter Vickers has been excellent today— George (@GeorgeLW96) September 21, 2019
